Milton Wayne Taylor, 85, of Sardis, Ohio went to be with the Lord February 14, 2026 after a brief illness. He was born October 31, 1940 a son of the late Charles Raymond & Lillian Sloan Taylor.
Wayne was a veteran and served in the US Army as a sharpshooter. He was also a member of the American Legion and was a Mason, and was part of the Supreme Council, Scottish Masonic Jurisdiction for many years.
He worked at Ormet 30 plus years and as a coal miner for a few years. He was a great role model and had strong work ethic.
He loved to hunt, trap, fish and won many coon hunting competitions. He also played baseball in his youth.
He loved and cared for animals. His current pup “Fudge” was his buddy. He also had an inside cat “Fluffy” who he bottle fed because he couldn’t allow the little fella to die on his watch. He also cared for 24 plus porch cats who had been dropped off at his house over time. He joined the forces with Vicky Lohr, who he thought the world of and Scott Lohr, who was as a son to him, to get the cats spayed and neutered.
He always said every time he had to bury a kitten it was like he lost a part of his heart.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death his sisters, Mary Jane and Ruth Ann, and his brothers, Ralph and Charles.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Louise, daughters, Marlene, Charlene, and Darlene, brother, Kenneth (Donna) Taylor, three grandsons, Bryan, Adam, and Brandon, and several nephews and a niece.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Wednesday February 18, 2026 at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home Woodsfield, Ohio. Burial will follow in the St. Paul’s Church Trail Run Cemetery near Antioch, Ohio.
In Lieu of flowers, please donate to Cross Paws or donate to a local pet shelter. My dad’s final message is be responsible pet owners. They only love and bring more joy to your life than most people. My porch is now closed. Please get your pet spayed or neutered.
